Books & Attitudes

Kims Blog
I'm reading my sisters Christmas present...I know, classy. But I just couldn't wrap it up after just kinda browsing through it and skimming over a couple of the pages. It is now on my list of books that I would like for my library - and my birthday is in a couple of months. Anyway - she has a chapter about attitude and how critical it is. Talk about stomping all over my toes - I'm pretty sure they got flat as pancakes (hopefully they'll recover). Needless to say - things would prolly go lots better if MY attitude would change. Hmm...imagine that! It all starts with Me! How I react to some situtations; comments; the day; just life is sometimes with a selfish attitude. wow - humbling to me. And to think I thought I could control my fleshly desires and thoughts and actions and needs. How miserbly I FAIL and make life...complicated for myself and those around me. Especially those around me. My poor hubby. Thankfully he puts up with me because he loves me. But to think that if I don't change my attitude that I'm going to pass that onto my child! EEEkkk! And I could talk till I'm blue in the face to teach him differently and it will go in and out of his ears. He'll pick up how I react faster than I could talk. So my walk and talk need to line up. Line up with the goals that I have for him. Goals that are Gods standards. I think I have a lot of work to do...
I urge you to check the book out or at least her blog. She has lots of good advice for every wife, mom, family; big or small; with little or big people.

Cappuccino Blossoms

So I have to take cookies to one of our family gatherings. It just so happens that I had found a new cookie recipe that I was dying to try! First problem - it called for instant espresso. My lovely grandma had a muffin recipe that called for it and she couldn't find it in these parts of the valley. So I took her word for it and did a search for some online. And wah-lah! Found some with FREE shipping! I'll take 2 please! It can be found here.
Anyway - onto the recipe.
You'll need the following ingredients:

1 cup unsalted butter, softned
6 Tbsp sugar
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup coffee liqueur
2 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp instant espresso
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup chopped, salted, roasted almonds
42 dark chocolate kisses
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat butter at medium speed with mixer until creamy; gradually add sugars; beating well. Add coffee liquer, beat well. Stire together flour and next 4 ingredients. Add to butter mixture; beat at low speed until well blended. Stir in almonds. (If desired, store dough in airtight container in the fridge up to 1 week.) Drop cookies on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden (Bake chilled dough 11-12 minutes). Remove from oven and press 1 kiss into center of each cookie. Cool on baking sheets for 3 minutes and transfer to wire rack and cool completely (About 1 hour).

I made a few modifications to the recipe - I omitted the almonds and instead of inserting the kisses, I mixed in 3/4 - 1 cup of mini chocolate chips.

And they are divine! Enjoy!
Have a Merry Christmas!

Project #1

So in my last post, I had mentioned a project I had started...Here's what it was and the result...
Found cheap frames at Goodwill - total: $12

Roughed up the edges and spray painted them bright, bold colors. Invested in 2 cans of spray paint, the others I already had.

Printed off some pictures that I had taken and one that Kimberly Sink had shot.

Ran to Hobby Lobby and got some matboard for $8.

Stopped at Lowe's and got some teeny tiny nails to hold everything in the frame.

Arranged them and hung them on the wall in CMA's room.

Ta-da! Wall art for cheap with some sentimental value. :)

After:

And here's a sneak peek at the next project I've started...

Outdated?

A bit outdated my blog is. I shall change this tonight - although just like every other time I think, "hmmm, maybe I should update my blog...but I HAVE to get this, this, and this done first..."
Well...this, this, and this just took a backseat. For the moment anyway. And where to start!?!?
Summer...oh the long days of summer. I miss them already! The highlights of summer:

Obviously...I once was uh...round...
And then Mr. Big C.M.A. arrived...16 days early. :)
What a glorious day that was! A miracle he is! It's simply amazing the work of the Lord. Just aw struck at the complexity and simplicity of such things. Life was all about adjusting after this day. And adjusting we still are...Although "normal" is now "normal" and not what it used to be.

We celebrated birthdays...

We visited with friends...

We partook in breaking the World Record for most boats tied up...1,640 boats is a lot of boats, by the way...

This was also CMA's first road trip...He did wonderful for the heat index being over 100 both days...

To my hubby's delight, my grandma came and helped me can a bushel of pears. He also got lucky and got 2 jars of peaches, too.

I actually spent some time in the kitchen - making messes at least!
But I did try out some new recipes that were oh, so good for the diet...

Enjoy watching the new mom and her spotted young browsing around in our backyard

Life has been busy - harvest is getting started, little man is growing up way too fast, my flowers are looking a little sad, and our yard has a blanket of leaves covering it. But I have projects in mind for this fall and winter to keep me busy. Big projects...and convincing my hubby is project #1. Well, maybe #2 since I've already started #1...

Stay tuned for before and after photos of my latest project...

forever. really.

So, I've decided that I'm not a true blogger. It's apparently not high on my priority list, nor do I remember that, yes, I actually have a blog. A blog that for the life of me I can't even remember what all I've wrote; let alone how long ago it's been written! But I do feel guilty for those of you that actually take the time to read up on my really outdated blog. It really isn't any fun for you. So here's my update. Maybe I'll elaborate more on the update at a later time. My dryer is done, so now I can get dressed for the day and it's already 1:30. Let alone that I haven't gotten much done today. And I've got errands to run in town. Not getting the best start to the day. *sigh* and this is probably why blogging isn't high on the list...
